The group »New Materials and Products« is involved in the development of innovative material systems and processing technologies, and their application in the optimisation of plastic products. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of innovative expandable material systems and their processing technology, especially as regards particle foams. A further competence is in the field of surface and interface modification of plastics, for targeted adjustment of adhesion in composite materials, and for the imbedding of particles in plastic and other matrices to generate different functionalities.
In addition, the group has strong interdisciplinary links with all fields of polymer technology, particularly as regards the further development of mould technologies for plastic processing, process and component simulation, and characterisation and testing of materials and components.
