On the basis of long-standing know-how and experience relating to instrumental analysis methodologies, the underlying chemical and structural data of new materials (commercially obtained materials, or materials synthesised at the ICT) are measured or tested. The application spectrum ranges from in-house tasks - such as the analysis of explosives, conventional and energetic plasticisers and polymer binding agents, stabilisers and oxidisers - to externally commissioned, customer-specific analysis. In both cases activity is focused on the development, adaptation and application of suitable methods to measure the purity, relative molar mass distribution and trace material content, and identify the by-products. In addition, thermal properties such as melt and degradation temperature, phase behaviour and glass transition point are investigated. The aim of analytical investigations is to determine the migration behaviour of plasticisers, the residual solvent content, the compatibility of the constituent substances, the emission behaviour of polymer-bound materials and the analysis of complex mixtures. Facilities and equipment - Chromatographic analysis techniques / sample preparation: GC-MSD, GC-TID, GC-FID, GC-WLD, Fast-GC, IC, HPLC, GPC, SPME, DTD, Head-Space, Tenax, Soxhlet etc.
